Bowport is a locally owned and operated small business in Smyrna, Georgia. We are a husband and wife team, and we are the only direct employees of the firm. However, we can’t do it all ourselves. Therefore, we utilize the expertise, experience, and creativity of other organizations and individuals. We have been using the same great construction crew at Property Plus of Atlanta since 2015.
What We Do: At the most basic level, we are real estate investors. We buy outdated, neglected, and distressed homes, then transform them into the pride of the neighborhood. When completed, we put them on the market to sell. In short, we are house flippers, although we have kept a few for ourselves as rental units. Each renovation and remodel receives our personal attention with a goal of producing a highly desirable home we would be proud to call our own.
How We Do It: We use only professional contractors and craftsmen, and insist on quality construction and quality materials. First, we perform a thorough inspection to determine the integrity of the structure and understand which systems and components require repair or replacement. Next, we prepare the concept drawings for floor plan changes and choose all the design components. These tasks are performed with an eye toward meeting the needs and desires of today’s home buyers. We adhere to proper permitting and inspections to help ensure the job is performed to our standards.
Background: Although we formed Bowport in 2015, our experience with real estate began decades ago. Patti started her own wallpapering and decorating company about 1985 and has kept abreast of design and real estate trends ever since. She handles all of the material selection and design decisions. Ron flipped his first property (a multi-family lot) in 1984, bought his first two rental houses in 1985, and undertook his first commercial real estate investment in 2000. Trained as an engineer, and owner of an investment advisory and asset management firm for 22 years, Ron handles most of the investment, planning, and marketing aspects of Bowport.
About the Bowport Name: We first met when we were in middle school. Ron lived on a street named Bowen, and Patti lived on Portsmouth. Just like our lives intersected, so did these two streets. When we started our new company, we simply used that intersection, joining Bowen with Portsmouth to form Bowport.
